New administrative roles approved for 2023-24

The Canton City School Board of Education on Monday approved the hiring of Tamiko Hatcher as the Director of Career Prep Innovations, Pathways & Partnerships at McKinley High School.

Hatcher began his educational career in Canton City in 1998 where he served for six years as a science teacher. Hatcher has served as the Director of Special Programs for the Akron Public Schools since 2016.

“We are fortunate to get someone like Tamiko, whose values align with ours and whose vast experiences match our current needs. I look forward to working with him in his new role,” said Superintendent Jeffery Talbert.

Hatcher shared, “I am excited to return to the district that gave me the opportunity to pursue my dreams. I plan to use this opportunity to provide students with career pathways that lead to prosperity as I work to galvanize the Stark County business community through the development of business partnerships.”

In other hiring news, Aaron DeHart will join the district as an assistant principal at McKinley Senior High School. DeHart also began his career in Canton City as a teacher in April of 2001 and served until 2011. He is leaving Akron Public Schools, where he has been an academy principal for eight years.
