First Ever Competition For McKinley Army JROTC Raider Team
The McKinley Army JROTC Raider Team finished with overall third-place honors at the Perry Fall JROTC Raider Challenge held at Perry High School on Wednesday, November 17th. JROTC Raider teams compete in a series of challenging events to test physical and mental toughness, leadership, and teamwork! This was the first-ever Raider competition for the McKinley Army JROTC cadets.
Ltc. Erik D. Nagy led 15 McKinley cadets as they competed against multiple teams from Perry High School Army JROTC and Green High School Air Force JROTC. Events included a physical fitness test (push-ups, curl-ups, and a 1-mile run), medical evaluation of a simulated casualty, a mile-long team obstacle course, a memorization game, and a one-rope bridge demonstration.
Bulldog cadets earned second place in the physical fitness test and third place in the memorization game. Sophomore Champ Knox was the fastest cadet at the competition with a 1-mile run time of 5:52. Upon completion of the event, all participating cadets received a ribbon for his/her uniform and a commemorative dog tag.
The Bulldog Raider Team Leader, junior Jesse Harsh, stated, "My team displayed great leadership, motivation, and toughness. Giving up was not an option. I am very proud of our accomplishments and the team bonding we created".
