McKinley Army JROTC Names Guenevere Berrie New Battalion Commander

McKinley Army JROTC "Bulldog" Battalion has a new battalion commander and staff leadership for the 2021-2022 school year.

In an Assumption of Command ceremony during "Reconnect Wednesday" on Sept. 15th, Cadet Guenevere Berrie assumed her new role as Commander of the Bulldog Battalion. The military Assumption of Command ceremony is steeped in tradition as the battalion colors are symbolically passed from the Senior Army Instructor to the incoming cadet commander.

Cadet Berrie is a fourth-year Army JROTC cadet and has excelled in every aspect of the program. She has served as Battalion Executive Officer, Command Sergeant Major, Color Guard Commander, and Academic and Leadership Team Leader. During the ceremony, Cadet Berrie was also presented the Military Officers Association of America medal for outstanding performance in JROTC.

Reconnect Wednesday on the 15th marked the first time that all 100+ cadets of the Bulldog Battalion have been together in one location in over two years. After the ceremony, the day consisted of Army Service Uniform fitting and issue for all cadets, drill and ceremony practice in the gym, and a staff meeting of the new battalion leadership to plan future activities and community events.
