Repository Recognizes Teachers of the Month

Each month the Canton Repository recognizes Teachers of the Month from all the Stark County School Districts. This month, the CCSD nominated Loranza Payton of McKinley as our secondary teacher and Marissa Shulik as our primary grade teacher.

Principal Jonas Wertin said, "Loranza is the type of person that gets involved wherever necessary without being asked. She is a team player that comes with solutions rather than problems."

Of Mrs. Shulik, Principal Renee Brown said, "Teachers need resources and appropriate tools to teach our students. Marissa has spent endless hours ensuring teachers have the resources in their hands and that she is skilled to coach them to close learning gaps."

Peggy Wagner

When discussing what makes a teacher great, selflessness is a character trait this person must have. Peggy Wagner is the definition of selflessness. Whether nurturing and supporting students, their families, and staff Peggy gives 100 percent effort daily.

Brandon Vincent

Mr. Vincent is an outstanding Math teacher who makes his class fun and engaging. He pushes the students past what they think they are capable of doing.

Kellee Flanagan

Kellee is willing to always help people and is truly sought out by her peers for wisdom, knowledge, and guidance. She acts with purpose, serves others, solves problems, and brings energy which supports our district focus in the Canton City School District.

Emily Madderom

Emily has started her new job as a virtual 4th-grade teacher with gusto! She has a can-do attitude and works to create authentic relationships with parents, students, and colleagues.

Kathy Pugh

Kathy pugh does not only teach art, she is also an advocate for the arts. Coach Pugh has secured collaborative community arts experiences for our students with the Canton Health Department and the Palace Theater.

Brooke Wakefield

Brooke is a firecracker and ready to set our district on fire with her willingness to create a team within our building and support everyone. She goes above and beyond for everyone and quickly jumps in to support anyone in need even if it doesn't fit into her schedule. Buildings are made into a community of strength and support by teachers like Brooke.

Courtney Schrader

Courtney welcomed 26, 1st graders into her classroom with an amazingly positive attitude. She works countless hours after school to ensure that her room is organized and she is prepared each day.

Jacinta McKeal

Jacinta McKeal, Literacy and Numeracy Teacher, is a true leader who has informally mentored her "new-to-First-Grade" colleagues, ensuring they have everything they need for a successful start to a new school year. Her true team spirit has made for a great first week of school!

Mike Grunder

Mike Grunder was recently moved from a million years in Grade 4 to Grade 6. He was apprehensive but has embraced the role and students seem to really enjoy his humor and kindness. Lucky to have him join our staff!

Erin Class has been working tirelessly to assure that curriculum is organized, distributed, and accounted for so that the learning can begin! We are grateful to Erin's work and efforts to assure that we all have what we need!
