McKINLEY ROTC PERFORMS WELL AT LINCOLN WEST CLASSIC

Lieutenant Colonel Erik D. Nagy, commander of our McKinley Senior High School Army JROTC, is proud to report that his battalion competed at the Lincoln West High School Army JROTC Military Drill Classic in Cleveland on Saturday, March 2nd and finished with first and third place trophies!

Eighteen of our "Bulldog Battalion" cadets competed against teams from Lincoln West High School, Kenmore-Garfield High School, Youngstown East High School, Lorain High School, Elyria High School, and Horizon Science Academy.  Bulldog cadets competed in Varsity Color Guard, Freshman Color Guard, Academic Challenge, Individual Drill, the Raider Team Competition (athletics), and the Tug-of War.

Our stand-out team was the Freshman Color Guard winning first place honors for the second time this school year.  The Freshman Color Guard is comprised of Guenevere Berrie, Christian Montana, Saniah McDew, and Avery Smith. Our Raider Team placed third with a strong performance of 5:07 in the one-mile relay anchored by junior Naki Weir.  Both teams were awarded trophies for the events and every cadet that attended the meet will receive a ribbon for his/her uniform.

We are very proud of our cadets for the many hours of practice leading up to the event, and the dedication, high motivation, and outstanding effort during the competition.
