The Arts Academy @ Summit held a special dedication for its new Piano and Dance Labs at a today.

The piano lab, officially named “PIANOFORTE,” features 28 KORG electric pianos, complete with upgraded benches and headsets with microphones. A teacher station allows music teacher Holly Flowers to speak back and forth with the students individually, or in large or small groups using wifi and an iPad.

“The reaction of the students has been very positive. They truly appreciate the quality of the lab and take the whole class very seriously,” said Flowers. “The old lab was functional, but constantly breaking down due to age and constant use. SInce piano is a core element of The Arts Academy since our inception, we are extremely grateful to the district for this investment in our kids.”

The Dance lab is also a recent addition to the Arts Academy. It includes a new laminate floor, a wall of mirrors, and ballet barres. A generous donation provided for the mirrors and barres. Dance teacher Kelly Winn and her husband installed the floor.

We were happy to have Mayor Bernabei in attendance for this special event.
