CANTON CITY SCHOOL DISTRICT HEALTH SERVICES
We take the health of our students very seriously and believe that in order for our students to be successful in the classroom, they must have access to health services. Each of our buildings has an assigned registered nurse who holds a baccalaureate degree or higher and they maintain a nursing licensure through the Ohio Board of Nursing as well as a pupil services licensure through the Ohio Department of Education. We serve many roles in the school system and help train personnel to care for your child when we are fulfilling other duties. Each school nurse has a diverse background in nursing and offers a wealth of knowledge and resources.
As your student’s health is imperative to their attendance and learning abilities, we must have an updated emergency medical form on file each year as changes occur.
1. Parents/ guardians are encouraged to take their child for their annual well-child visit where a vision and/or hearing screening may be conducted.
2. Parents/ guardians are encouraged to ensure children who wear glasses have a current prescription. If a prescription is not current, they should be encouraged to seek a comprehensive eye exam by either an Optometrist or an Ophthalmologist locally. Parents who don't have a local provider can locate one here: Ohio Pediatric Vision Directory.
3. Parents/ guardians are encouraged to ensure children who have mild hearing loss, wear hearing aids, or cochlear implants have had their annual hearing evaluation done. Parents who don't have a local provider can find one here: Ohio Pediatric Audiologist Directory.
