Automotive Service Programs

Automotive Service Technician

This 1,020-hour program will prepare the student for an entry-level position in the automotive service field.

What You Will Learn

Engine performance and repair.
Automotive electronics and electrical systems.
Suspensions and steering systems.
Brakes and tires.
General maintenance and repair.
Computer keyboarding and Microsoft Office.
Resume writing and interviewing skills.
Program Overview

Program is scheduled Sep.- Jun., M-TH (Fridays during externship), 8:00am - 3:30pm.
Cost: $8,760. Textbooks, supplies, tool kit and ASE Certification Exam fees are included.
Eligible for PELL Grant funding and approved for GI Bill benefits.
At the end of the program, students will perform 165 hours of an unpaid, supervised externship in  an automotive repair facility.
Graduates sit for an ASE Certification Exam in one of the following disciplines: engine performance, electronics/electrical systems, engine repair, brakes or steering/suspensions.

Automotive Technology - Brakes

This 142-hour program will prepare the student to diagnose and repair automobile brake systems.

What You Will Learn

Diagnose and repair drum and disc brake systems.
Replace drum and disc brake systems.

Automotive Technology - Steering & Suspensions

This 143-hour program will prepare the student to diagnose and repair automobile suspension and steering systems.

What You Will Learn

Diagnose and repair front and rear suspension systems.
Diagnose and repair steering systems.
Diagnose and repair driveline and wheel components.

Automotive Technology - Engine Repair

This 143-hour program will prepare the student to diagnose and repair automobile engines.

What You Will Learn

Diagnose and repair engine mechanical issues.
Conduct engine tune-ups.
Rebuild short-block engines.

Understand basic electrical tests and circiut problems.
Diagnose and repair ignition and starter systems.
Diagnose and repair fuel and emission control systems
Diagnose and repair electrical components.

This 147-hour program will prepare the student to fine tune the performance of automobile engines.

What You Will Learn

Identify the major uses of computer controls on modern automobiles.
Perform basic engine performance diagnosis.
Perform scan tool diagnostics.
