Medical Assistant

This 1,040-hour program prepares competent, entry-level Medical Assistants in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills), and affective (behaviors) learning domains. It is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP). The Medical Assisting Education Review Board (MAERB) reports the outcome from the cohort year 2016, that an average of 88.89% of students enrolled in our CCSD Medical Assistant program were successfully placed (post-graduation) in a Medical Assistant position or in a related field."     

What You Will Learn:

Medical terminology.
Performing electrocardiograms.
Administering medications.
Checking vital signs.
Assisting in medical exams.
Performing basic laboratory tests.
Computer keyboarding and Microsoft Word.
Resume writing and interviewing skills.

Program Overview:

Program is scheduled Sep. - Jun., M - TH (Fridays during externship), 8:30am - 4:00pm.
Cost: $8,500. Textbooks, supplies, uniforms, shoes, stethoscope, and certification exam fee are included in the cost.
Eligible for Pell Grant funding and approved for GI Bill benefits.
At the end of the program, students will perform 164 hours of supervised, unpaid externship in a medical facility.
Graduates sit for the AAMA Certification Exam.
