The first round of hot spots from the 1Million Project have arrived! Students who signed up prior to the start of school will be receiving their hot spot this week. The partnership between CCSD and 1Million Project (Sprint) is to provide free hot spots (which means free WiFi) for students to use at home. The second round of hot spots was ordered last week and should arrive in a few weeks.

Remember the hot spots are for use at home only! Students should not bring it to school. In addition, each device has a CIPA compliant (Children's Internet Protection Act) content filter which is enabled as soon as the device is turned on. That means it helps prevent students from accessing adult content, known phishing and malware sites. Each hot spot allows for 10GB per month of free high speed wireless data. Once 10GB is reached, access is limited to 2GB until the monthly cycle ends. Data will reset to 10GB starting new monthly term.

Canton City School District announced its partnership with the 1Million Project in the spring of 2019. The 1Million Project's goal is to provide students with consistent and reliable internet access from home. It's possible that eligible students will have access to FREE wifi from home for the entirety of their 4 years in high school while enrolled at Canton City. Incoming Freshman through Seniors for the 2019-2020 school year have the opportunity to take a survey to determine eligibility.

While the program provides different types of devices, CCSD will utilize hotspots for students to work alongside the iPad 1 to 1 initiative currently in place at the high school.
