Mayor's Young Inventor Challenge Winners

The Second Annual Mayor’s Young Inventor Challenge held December 8th at the Civic Center awarded prizes to city youths who created useful inventions out of recyclable materials. High School division winners were: First place -  Joel Bankert for his "Cardboard Stool;" Second Place - Josh Bankert for his "Paperboy's Best Friend Messenger Bag;" Third Place went to Amanda Belden and Ashley Maupin for their "Scooter." Middle School division winners were: First Place - Cameron Entwistle for his "Candy Dispenser;" Second Place - Alexis Howell and Sadie Bell for their "Dog Waterer;" and Third went to  Camille Sherer for "The Dribbler." First Place won $500, Second won $250 Wal-Mart gift cards, respectively, with honorable mention winners receiving a $100 gift card. Participants were divided into two age groups (grades 7-8 and grades 9-12) for the competition.

All participants and their families received free admission during the competition to the “Something from Nothing” exhibit at the Canton Museum of Art for their participation.
