TO:                 Directors; Supervisors; Program Leaders; Managers; Coordinators and Principals

FROM:           Rick Marks, Director of Pupil Services

SUBJECT:      2004-05 CALENDAR AND

                        PARENT/TEACHER CONFERENCE WINDOWS

DATE:                        February 27, 2004

The 2004-05 calendar was approved at the Board of Education meeting on February 23, 2004.  Please share with staff, parents, and other community groups by whatever communication tools you normally use.  The calendar will appear in the Journal this Friday, February 27, 2004.

The dates being provided for the parent/teacher conference windows are consistent with those used during the 2003-04 school year with the first “window” falling at the end of the first grading period, and the second “window” falling at interim progress report time during the third grading period.

The parent/teacher conference “windows” for the 2004-05 school year are as follows:

                                      November 1, 2004 through November 12, 2004

                                      February 21, 2005 through March 4, 2005

As you may recall, the purpose for establishing parent/teacher conference “windows” is to avoid “meeting” conflicts during these periods.  Therefore, individuals who are planning staff development programs or other meetings should avoid these dates so as not to create conflicts for building level employees.  Each Director is asked to inform those individuals in their departments who schedule meetings about the parent/teacher conference “windows.”
